Khmer Grammar

The Khmer grammar allows you to manipulate the vocabulary to obtain multiple forms of a word. The grammatical rules below are the most important in Khmer and help connect words or shape the structure. We start with the prepositions:

And: និង  Audio Under: ក្រោម  Audio
Before: មុន  Audio After: ក្រោយមក / បន្ទាប់មក  Audio
Inside: ខាងក្នុង  Audio Outside: ខាងក្រៅ  Audio
With: ជាមួយ  Audio But: ប៉ុន្តែ  Audio
For: សម្រាប់ / ចំពោះ  Audio From: ពី / មកពី  Audio
To: ទៅ/ឆ្ពោះ  Audio In: ក្នុង  Audio


Questions and Adverbs

To ask questions, use the following:

Some of the most important time adverbs:

Most commonly used pronouns in Khmer:

To express the possession of something [possessive form]:
